You know those amazing photos you see of a bride getting ready where everything looks perfect, the lighting is fantastic, and nothing is out of place? We all love them, and I bet that while imaging what your wedding photos could be like, some of those images come to mind. We all want stunning photos of our big day. You put so much time into planning your wedding, and you want to have every aspect of it captured beautifully. So you do your research and find your dream photographer (if you’re still not sure how to go about it, you can check out our post on how to choose the right photographer here), and the planning continues. Something that can be easily overlooked is the importance of finding a quality getting ready space. If you want photos like the ones you’ve seen on Pinterest, it’s important to put some thought into where you and your partner will be getting ready. Don’t stress! Were here to help! Here are some tips for choosing the perfect getting ready space so you can have gorgeous images of your wedding day preparations.

Choose a space with lots of natural light.

This might be one of the most important decisions when it comes to picking your getting ready space. Choosing a space with lots of windows, and natural light that fills that space, helps provide you with more natural and creative images. Spaces with fluorescent lighting are harsher, can affect your skin tone in photographs, and take away depth from your images. Dark spaces add grain to your images, and may require your photographer to use flash to get quality images.

Pick a place with simple neutral decor, or decor that matches your wedding colors.

This one might seem a little silly, but it’s actually quite important if you want a cohesive wedding album. Say your wedding color palette is blush and gold (yes please!), you wouldn’t want to get ready in a space filled with red furniture, or orange walls. You want something simple that will compliment your wedding colors, while blending into the background with no distractions.

Keep your getting ready space clean.

Keeping your getting ready space clean and free of clutter is so important! Having bags, clothes, snacks, and such piled up in the background of your images can be very distracting. Of course, we know that you need the space to get ready, and there are a lot of little things that you will use that day that tend to fill up whatever room you are in. Totally ok! The best way to handle this is to talk to your photographer about what corner of the room they think will be best to shoot in. Then, when it’s time to start your getting ready photographs, clean it up! Super simple!
