‘Winter is far from my favorite season. Give me a beach and sunshine any day! I don’t ski. I don’t snowboard. I don’t ice skate. Living in the midwest and dealing with snow and ice is nothing but an inconvenience. (This couldn’t have been any more true on our drive home!!!) But not even I can argue that winter isn’t beautiful in its own right. As a photographer with a brighter style, I was initially drawn to the idea of a shoot like this because of the clean background that allows the subject to pop. The icy blues and greens are just stunning. It was a blast creating is an environment completely different, albeit very cold! Looking at the final product, it was totally worth it!’

WE ASKED THE PHOTOGRAPHER: What was special about doing this shoot?

‘For me, this was a bucket list shoot. I’ve been dreaming of doing a shoot at the ice castles for years, so when Mandy and I were able to make this happen, I could not have been more geeked! Something I’ve been wanting to focus on in my career is trying new things and shooting in new places. When you’ve been in business for over a decade, you’ve used all the cool locations where you live – probably 100 times. 😉 So, getting to travel to such a beautiful place for the photoshoot of your dreams is such an incredible experience.
